Google Search, The King Or Something Else is Coming?

How Google search help us in our everyday life?

We hear it every single day of our lives: “Do you know how old so-and-so is?”

“No, why don’t you just Google it?”

Google search is the go-to solution for us to discover something we are looking to find the answer to. Indeed, the very word “Google” has become synonymous with everyday language – and not just in Britain, Canada and the United States but all over the world.

Most desktop and laptop users position the Google search page as their home page when launching a web browser. It’s ideal because it is not content rich and loads very quickly. Google became the go-to search engine because it has always possessed a larger cache of returned results. Moreover, when can you remember if and when you last used Yahoo Search or Ask Jeeves?

But searching has become a lot more complex now. It is not limited to searching through a phrase or particular words, it now begins to find a new partner, identify a cheap bargain, call a taxi, stream movies or even play music performed by French women or Peruvian pan pipe players.

The Apps on our Smartphones Are Constantly Searching

Think about all the apps on your phone or tablet. Every time you use one of them it will be performing some kind of a search. The thing is: the searching does not use any kind of Google technology at all. Something the Californian-based search engine giant does not like to advertise.

Once upon a time, a search request would involve typing in a phrase or word into the Google bar, but now it is way more complex. Searching can be done by swiping left or right, moving a graph or map with your finger and various other mechanics.

Open source search engine technology has reached new heights and companies like Elastic are used by some of the big players. Tinder, eBay, Uber, Lyft.com and even the streaming service Netflix all currently use the search technology created by Elastic and not Google.

Most of the dating sites use this new form of search technology. Most searches for a new partner involve swiping right (or left) depending on your tastes. The technology matches your preferences and changes along with the constant moving of parameters. In fact, it’s more than just a search – it an engine of search on steroids.

Companies, start-ups and businesses are quickly realising that the power of search is something they have to get right. Although words still form the baseline of today’s online world, videos and images are quickly becoming as popular as cold data itself.

Take the success of Netflix and Uber in recent years. They each have a need to search through more than just words. They also both rely on search engine parameters that have little to do with Google.

The rise of the smartphone and mobile online access has accelerated since the birth of 4G technology. Now we have 5G that will soon form part and parcel of our daily lives. The technology will involve AI (Artificial Intelligence) and will assist driverless vehicles as they move around our roads.
